Robert W. D’Loren is the President and Chief Executive Officer of NexCen Brands, Inc., the premier vertically integrated global brand management company. Since founding the company in June 2006, Mr. D’Loren has utilized innovative financing techniques that he pioneered to acquire NexCen’s current portfolio of brands including: The Athlete's Foot®, Bill Blass®, Great American Cookies®, MaggieMoo's®, Marble Slab Creamery®, Pretzel Time®, Pretzelmaker®, Shoebox New York ™, and Waverly®. NexCen’s brands generate in excess of $ 1.3 billion in retail sales and operate in excess of 1900 franchise stores in 50 countries.
Mr. D’Loren has more than 25 years of experience in entrepreneurship, finance and intellectual property, including consumer branded products, media and entertainment, real estate, mortgage and asset-backed securities. He is the former President and CEO of UCC Capital Corporation where he pioneered intellectual property and whole company securitization finance and the value net business model. Prior to forming UCC, Mr. D’Loren served as President and Chief Operating Officer of CAK Universal Credit Corporation, an intellectual property finance and consulting company, as a founding member with the Prudential Securities Corporation. In 1985, he founded the D’Loren Organization, a company involved extensively in real estate investment, lending and restructuring, where the aggregate value of transactions exceeded $2 billion. The D’Loren Organization was involved in the initial growth stages of Business Loan Center, which grew to be the second largest U.S. SBA 7A lender.
Mr. D’Loren has been lauded for his success and has received several awards for his unparalleled work in intellectual property:
- November 2007: Mr. D’Loren was named “Dealmaker of the Year” by the Executive Council of New York through the organization’s “Academy Awards” Top Ten program for his vision and innovation in brand acquisition and management.
- October 2005: Licensing Executives Society bestowed its “Deal of Distinction” award on UCC Capital for its 2004 financing of the BCBG Max Azria Group.
- April 2005: Institutional Investor’s Securitization News awarded UCC Capital with the “Deal of the Year” award for the BCBG financing.
- M&A Advisor awarded UCC its 2005 Consumer Products “Deal of the Year” for the firm’s mergers and acquisitions advisory and financing of Joe Boxer.
- Mr. D’Loren was personally acknowledged by M&A Advisor as the 2005 “Dealmaker of the Year.”
Mr. D’Loren speaks at a variety of industry conferences and is an expert source for mainstream press and specialty finance publications around the world including Dow Jones, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, among others. He has served either as a director or board advisor to Business Loan Center, The Athlete’s Foot, Bike Athletic Company, Bill Blass Ltd., Candies Inc., Iconix Brand Group and The Longaberger Company. Mr D’Loren was appointed in February 2008 to the board of The Achilles Track Club.
Mr. D’Loren, a resident of Long Island, is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University.
